[Activity 6] Sri Sathya Sai Sevakshetra

This I should say, is one of the happiest momentsl. Thanks to everyone out there that made this possible. People who have donated the computers, members, well wishers and others.

We have started the work and have given away the first computer :). Yes. true and delighted.

Last Saturday (19 July 2008) we visited Sri Sathya Sai Sevakshetra (school) in Marthalli, Bangalore and donated them a computer which we promised a month back. The school is basically for the children of the construction workers in that area. I should tell the children were excited that they were going to learn computers. The school is run by volunteers (They are looking for more, You can get in touch with me if you want to help them in any way...). There are around 20 students of different ages in the class and the classes happen from Monday to Saturday. The classes do not follow a very strict syllabi as of now, but help them face the world by teaching them general conversational knowledge and general knowledge.

Above are the pictures taken during the visit and the computer we donated to them.

Some of their wishlists
  1. Fund to pay salary(for some months…) to the staff which is around 3500. (as of now they have one dedicated staff)
  2. Volunteers during weekends.
  3. If you think, you can screen a movie for them on a weekend, you are welcome.
Please feel free to contact us, if you think we can help them in some way. Hope to continue the good work with all the support. Thanks again to everyone.

PS: If you think you know a school, that might need some help in setting up a lab/ library please let us know via this page. And if you want to become a member, go here.
